*In California as of 7/1/2023 you must be a CA resident and licensed by the state to investigate, locate, apprehend or surrender all persons that were released on bail.
This is the state required course to become a California State licensed Bail Agent
This is the state required course to become a California State licensed Recovery Agent
Both Licensed Bail Agents and Recovery Agents must take annual education classes.

Requirements
1. Be at least 18 years of age
2. Be a resident of California
3. Complete the CDI approved
20-hour pre-licensing
classroom course.
4. Take & pass the state
required examination.
5. Complete a Live Scan.
6. Submit for License.

Fugitive Recovery License
Requirements
1. Be at least 18 years of age
2. Be a resident of California

4. Complete the P.O.S.T.
certified PC 832 40-hour
Powers to Arrest course.
5. Complete a Live Scan.
6. Carry an Insurance Policy.
7. Submit for License

What Are The
Continuing Education
License Requierments
Every CA licensed Bail Agent and CA licensed Fugitive Recovery Agent must complete a minimum of 12-hours approved continuing education during their licensing period.
